Dr. Nancy Hamura is a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, having earned her specialisation in 2017. She is currently expanding her expertise as a trainee in rural Victoria, Australia—a role that presents both challenges and opportunities for growth as she acquires new knowledge and skills.

Although unexpected, Dr. Hamura embraced her role on the PSRH Board when no candidates from Papua New Guinea (PNG) were available to represent the country. Despite being based in Australia, she remains deeply committed to contributing to PSRH and supporting reproductive health initiatives in PNG and the broader Pacific region. Working alongside esteemed colleagues on the board, she values the opportunity to collaborate and make a meaningful impact.

As a newly elected board member, Dr. Hamura is eager to bring fresh perspectives and energy to PSRH. She is particularly passionate about advancing subspecialty training for Pacific Island specialists in fields like urogynaecology, gynaecology, and maternal-fetal medicine, recognising the vital role such expertise plays in improving healthcare for women in the Pacific.

Planning for the future, Dr. Hamura envisions greater collaboration among Pacific Island countries to tackle shared reproductive health challenges. She advocates for strengthened partnerships with PSRH, RANZCOG, and other key health organisations to enhance reproductive health services and outcomes across the region.
