Kathleen Gapirongo is currently the Program Manager for the Reproductive and Child Health/ Nutrition Unit at the Ministry of Health and Medical Services in Solomon Islands. She holds a bachelors degree in Midwifery from the Flinders University of Adelaide, South Australia. She has been working as a community nurse in the urban nursing services for 12 years with more interest in family planning and maternal health. Upon completing studies in Midwifery, Kathleen became a midwifery educator, coordinating the Midwifery Diploma Program in the Solomon Islands for 10years then later moved on into the Reproductive Health Unit where she is currently coordinating reproductive health programs specialising in the area of maternal health including family planning. Kathleen was elected July 2015 as the President of the Pacific Society for Reproductive Health.
